Interested in volunteering

Hi Shannon, sorry didn't know i could post without adding you. Never been a technifobe until this site!!! Anyhow. I had the same worries, did some facebook stalking and found some ladies that went to Nairobi last year using volunteer solutions. They both said it was amazing, picked up from airport, nice accommodation, no nasty surprises. I'm going, one other girl is too that I have spoken too. We are heading out in January, I come home in March, she comes home in June I think.

I've just booked to go to Kenya through Volunteering Solutions. I leave on December 4th. I've had no problems so far! When are you planning on going and to what part of Africa?

I will be there for 20 days. In the end, it will have cost me about $4,000 to go. This includes EVERYTHING though. I've never volunteered before, so I had to buy a big backpack, pants, shorts, anti-bacterial towels, money belts, sleeping bag, mosquito net, etc. I also had to get $475 worth of vaccines. I am also going on a safari while I'm there and flying to Mombassa for a weekend. My flight was $1,600. You can definitely do it cheaper if you don't have to get all of this stuff and you don't plan on travelling or doing a safari while you're there. If I were to go back next year, then I could save on the vaccines and travel accessories. So my trip might cost around $2,500 for the same time period.
